The ACTS 29 Initiative

ACTS 29 is an initiative of Aspen Grove Community Church which invites everyone to participate with God in His redemptive plan of winning the lost, sanctifying His people, correcting injustice and renewing creation. The vision for Acts 29 is to help AGCC be a community on mission for Jesus in the following four spheres of ministry:

1. Inside the church

2. Outside the church but in the same community (same or cross-cultural)

3. Outside the church locally (city and beyond, same or cross-cultural)

4. Global - cross-cultural and short-term or long-term Twelve percent of AGCC’s annual budget is set-aside for Acts 29.

 

Four grants were awarded under the Acts 29 Initiative in 2007:

  1. Operation Sharing and Caring, - to show our troops in Iraq that we care by sending supplies and sermon CDs. Vickie Agler & Gloria Marion.
  2. Boys Night Out and Girls Night Out, Dennis Sands - provides recreation, dinner, and Biblical life-skills instruction for urban youth.
  3. Kid’s Club - to help the children of North Littleton Park area succeed in school and life as they follow the example of Jesus. Vera Hergert & Laurie Swanson.
  4. World Venture, Dakar Academy Project (Senegal) - to recruit someone from AGCC to help lead a pre-departure seminar for the academy’s students. Sheryl O’Bryan.

 

In addition, AGCC provides support to the following ministries either through monthly support or one-time gifts:

  • Denver Street School - brings hope to Denver’s at risk youth by giving them a second chance for success and a quality education. www.denverstreetschool.com

 

  • Inner City Health Center (ICHC) - is a private, non-profit, volunteer based health care facility in Denver committed to improve the health of low-income and medically uninsured families. Their goal is to express love for Jesus Christ, love for people, and a deep concern for their physical, emotional, and spiritual well being. www.innercityhealth.com

 

  • International Development and Education Associates (IDEAS), Vernon & Shelley Laverty - IDEAS demonstrates love by serving forgotten or overlooked people in some of the poorest areas of the world by meeting social, physical, intellectual, and spiritual needs and thereby creating an environment of contagious hope. www.ideasworld.org
  • Mile High Ministries (MHM) - Mile High Ministries invites and equips people from all walks of life to join God's transforming to address practical needs of people struggling with poverty, to raise awareness of local social justice issues, and to cultivate servant leaders for an urbanizing world. www.milehighmin.org
  • Open Door Ministries (ODM) - ODM exists to provide practical help and hope to people in Denver’s inner city who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless. The Treasure House, one of ODM’s many ministries serves single moms and their kids by providing housing, parenting skills, and basic Christian discipleship. www.odmdenver.org
  • World Venture - Its mission is to see people of all nations transformed by Jesus Christ, to see the church around the world expanded and to see the hurting cared for and offered life-transforming hope. www.worldventure.com

  • YFC Youth Guidance Program, Nate Jones - The Youth for Christ (YFC) Youth Guidance ministry - through institutional, juvenile justice, or social service agency contacts - connects trained adults with young people to help them make good choices and establish a solid foundation in life. Like every ministry of YFC, Youth Guidance seeks to engage these young people wherever they are found as life-long followers of Jesus Christ. www.yfc.org
