Take-It-Home Series!

Helping parents shape kids’ faith at home

Wasn’t it fun to be part of the child dedication on October 23 a couple weeks ago?  In light of the child dedication and recognizing the difficulties of parenting and the desire for partnership between parents and the church in raising kids’ in the faith, we are starting a new series called the “Take-It-Home” series.  In a sense, this is a discipleship program for our children.  It is going to be amazing!  Here is what it is:

At least one time per year, you as parents will be asked to go with your child to Sunday School.  How fun is that?!  We recognize that the home is the primary place where faith is nurtured, so as a church we want to help equip you as parents, and these mini-seminars will be stepping stones to do just that.  But honestly, we don’t just want you to show up.  We want you to catch the vision.  As parents, we have an amazing opportunity and responsibility to take the unique temperament of our children and overlay it with the character of God by instilling habits and disciplines that will keep them connected to Christ.  These habits and disciplines will go way beyond our own kids too.  When our families start praying, blessing, doing devotions, serving and worshiping together on a regular basis our kids will grow up to not only do those things themselves, but also to do them with their kids.  You will not want to miss out on these opportunities.

We are really excited to get this going, so be on the look out for this “Take-It-Home” series as we promote different age groups.  You will not want to miss it!!!  To give you a sneak preview here is the list of what we will focus on with each age group:

Two year olds:  Family Blessings

Three year olds:  Family Devotions

Four year olds:  My Church

Five year olds:  Family Prayer

First Graders:  Family Service Projects

Second Graders:  Family Worship

Third Graders:  My Bible

Fourth & Fifth Graders:  Money and Me

Our first Take-It-Home seminar is COMING SOON!!!

Parents of TWO YEAR OLDS…mark your calendars to be in church on NOVEMBER 13!  As a parent of a two year old myself, I promise, you will not want to miss this!  This stuff is good; so inspiring and so practical.  I look forward to our time together.
