If you have put your faith in Jesus Christ and have never been baptized, I want to strongly encourage you to consider doing so. Our tradition at AGCC is baptism by immersion after a person has placed their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Parents consider talking to your kids about this. If they have received Christ and are able to understand what baptism is all about, ask them if they would be interested in this step of faith.
Baptism is an incredible opportunity
to:
1. Give a public testimony to your commitment and faith in Jesus Christ. It is an outward expression of the transformation that happened inside you when you surrendered your life to Christ. Baptism doesn’t save you, but allows you to let others know about the decision you made to follow Him.
2. Put your faith into action and bring a deeper accountability to your walk with Christ. Through this act you are letting others know you are committed to following Him for the rest of your life. They in turn have the responsibility to encourage and challenge you to follow through on this commitment.
3. Encourage others to either make public their faith and be baptized or, if they have been baptized, to evaluate how they are doing on following through with their commitment to Christ.
4. Honor Christ by obeying Him. There are two sacraments/ordinances that Christ gave his Church. Baptism is one of these – “believe and be baptized”. By obeying Christ and giving public testimony through baptism, He is honored.
