In the Fall of 2003, Scott Wenig began a Bible study with about a dozen people in the home of Leon and Kathy Henkelman. By December of that same year, the Bible study amazingly outgrew the Henkelman's home and we began to look for a new location. A core leadership team was formed with Scott, Kathy Henkelman, Jon Holm, and Shelley Laverty. After prayer and thoughtful consideration, we agreed that God was calling us to start a church. Our target location would be the Santa Fe/C-470 corridor and we sought incorporation and non-profit recognition under the name of Aspen Grove Community Church. On January 22, 2004, we held our first worship service at South Fellowship and we began to search for a new meeting site. In November 2004, we started meeting at Denver Seminary (Hampden and University) on Saturday nights. We transitioned to Sunday mornings in July 2005, when the Seminary campus relocated to 6399 S. Santa Fe Drive. Our worship attendance continues to grow, and currently is around 220. While we are dependent on a core team of volunteer leaders, we've also been able to hire a full-time Pastor of Congregational Life, an office manager, and three part-time staff, a Worship Leader, Children's Ministry Director and Student Ministries Director. Our hope is to eventually have our own facility.
